Churchill Elementary is delighted to welcome award-winning, author/illustrator Mark Parisi on Wednesday, May 3rd. Mr. Parisi will talk with 5th Grade students about his career as an author/illustrator and his new series Marty Pants.
Marty Pants is different from your typical middle schooler. He has the soul of an artist, and as an artist, he notices things— the kinds of things other kids don’t seem to see.
So when Marty discovers a plot on his teacher’s computer to take over the world, Marty knows this is a danger he can’t just ignore. But no one, not his best friends Parker and Roongrat or his mother, father, sister, arch-enemy, Simon, or Chief of Police Pickels, believes him.
So, it’s up to Marty to save the world—his way.
This hilarious new series follows the endearing, frazzled, embarrassed, and, ultimately, fearless footsteps of literature’s most unlikely hero—Marty Pants.

Looking for a way to get involved this month, but only have an hour or two or want a flexible time commitment?
The library is looking for extra volunteers to help complete the fiction book library project. Dee Dee Aldrich and Kara Halden have been working hard in the library on transitioning all of the fiction books to be labeled by genre. Changing the labels allows students to look for a specific genre on the spine and explore other books that are within a genre that might be overlooked. Below is a picture of what the final project will look like.
They are looking for anyone who is willing to volunteer at least 1 hour of time during the school day.
The volunteer will be taught how to remove and replace the spine labels. Even 1 hour will make difference in the library being able to complete this project before the end of the year. Volunteers will be welcome until the project is complete.
Interested? Please contact Dee Dee Aldrich at email@example.com to let her know. Thanks in advance for your help. Remember it takes a village!

We are excited to share that the Churchill PTA voted to support the upcoming D41 Referendum and support D41 Forward for Kids, a community PAC working to encourage support for the referendum. We hope that Churchill families will make an effort to educate themselves on the importance of this referendum and ultimately support it. Our community needs your “Yes” vote on April 4th, 2017 to address needed facility upgrades. Our students deserve to be educated in accessible, safe facilities, under one roof.
